Canvas prints
The series is inspired by the Kalevala: The melody of Väinämöinen's kantele is so beautiful that the listeners' tears turn into pearls at the bottom of the lake. The fairy of the pictures is one of the listeners.
There are ten numbered, signed prints of each image.
Sisters
We are sisters, photographer Elina Manninen and ice diver Johanna Nordblad. Together we create dreamlike underwater images in Finnish lakes.
Clean waters, nature and the silence beneath the surface are things we want to show others. Preferably in places where everyone can see them.
When shooting, we both dive without equipment, just holding our breath. We've been doing this together for years, and the collaboration flows naturally. We joke that I do whatever I want under the surface and Elina photographs whatever she wants.
