Sea Rooms

New series, work in progress. Acrylic and linocut print on canvas.

In the sun, everything looks friendly.

Dark water is frightening. When I dive into the depths of the sea or into a dark lake, I think of sea monsters and unknown creatures. Sea Rooms is my new series, in which I carve these strange and silent creatures of the deep into linoleum blocks and print them as patterned surfaces on acrylic-painted canvas. On this page you can see what is on my desk right now.

How the works are created

Each design starts with a sketch. I hand-carve it into a linoleum slab and press the slab over and over again onto a blue-painted canvas until the surface becomes like underwater wallpaper. Hand-printed, each painting is a little different.
